What I do:

Hello, I’m Lindsay, a.k.a., lmack by those who know me best. I’m a technical product leader who brings together people and teams while solving big picture problems. I love technical product management because it provides a unique vantage point and challenge - being able to see how a user experience works and envision the future potential and growth, often across many different products or user surfaces. As a people person, I embrace the role of human interface between front-end and back-end teams, building connections and creating harmony from end-to-end. Foremost, I love building great products that I am proud of, that make a difference and bring joy to people’s lives. I am passionate about the product and user experience, and this drives my motivation in designing and delivering great platforms. I am a compassionate and empathetic leader who brings my whole self to my team and organization. I care deeply about people and strive to cultivate a positive and inclusive culture that makes work more fun. I believe in coaching and mentoring over management and in empowering my team members by recognizing and developing their unique strengths. Both my technical and leadership skills are grounded in being a close, curious listener and communicator, which I attribute to my background in Linguistics.

My experiences:

I've launched world-class products on an enterprise scale, often on high-profile, fixed deadlines like the Olympics or Super Bowl, many times over. I have helped to build net new businesses and products. I thrive under pressure and when motivating teams to deliver amazing things. However, I am most proud of the teams and bonds that I have built. I have helped my teams and organizations discover their best ways of working and inspired team members to grow personally and professionally, while enjoying their work and delivering great products. I make work more fun for everyone involved by creating strong bonds and motivating teams through a deep understanding of the impact that our work has on the big picture. Personally, I am quite proud of the technical expertise that I’ve developed over my career, not having any background in engineering (or anything remotely related to a technical field). It often surprises people to hear this, and I happily share because I think it helps others to feel more confident in their ability to learn and grow, and to take pride in however their own unique backgrounds inform who they are as professionals.

My Special Sauce:

I am committed to improving people’s lives, through the products that I build, and through inspiring and supporting the people around me. I believe that I can learn from every person I meet and anything I happen across. This openness, curiosity, and compassion is the foundation of my leadership style. My superpower is building strong relationships and connections across teams that drive our collective success. I inspire teams by bringing everyone along: evangelizing our vision and mission, creating clarity and purpose, sharing knowledge generously, and generating pride and positive energy in what we do. As a collaborator, I can command a room of technologists to drive toward the best features and solutions through inclusive leadership, critical questions, and a systems-thinking mindset that can traverse the biggest cross-product picture into the weediest technical details and back - all while maintaining focus on the problem at hand and with grace and humor. I can dissect any UX into its constituent parts, and I can translate any tech speak into normal human understandable language. I empower my product and engineering teams to achieve their best and motivate them by knowing them as people and believing in us as a team. Yet, I believe that the greatest value that I bring to any role, team, or project is that I bring a little bit of joy to every meeting and every day and make everyone feel like they belong, are important, and have something to offer and to aspire towards. As for me, I just hope to keep learning every day and help to improve the lives of others through impactful products, well-designed, quickly scalable and extensible platforms, human relationships, and laughter.
