How do you maintain a consistent personal brand when you're straddling both freelance work and job searching? Feel like I'm sending mixed signals to potential clients/employers.
Great question. While every situation will look a little different, there's two ways you can think about this:
Path 1: When your main gig and side gig are similar
If your primary job is in the same space as your side hustle, we like to lead with your primary gig and then follow on with your side hustle.
That might sound like this:"I'm a frontend developer at Career Sandwich, but I can't get enough of coding so I also do freelance dev projects on the side. Hit me up if you could use help!"
Path 2: When your main gig and side gig are different
Let's imagine you're in Marketing at your company, but you've got a photography business on the side. In cases like this, we recommend publicizing them in different spaces. In this example, LI would be a great place to develop your personal Marketing brand, and Instagram might be a better choice for your Photography business.
