BLT #13 | Navigating Change & Transitions

August 29, 2024

Change is constant. It's how you handle it that sets you apart from the rest.

WE BELIEVE:

The first step to navigating change is acknowledging it's happening.

Don't underestimate the power of acknowledgement. We’re wired on a biological level to avoid change wherever possible, which means our bodies go into some degree of stress no matter how big or small (or good or bad!) a change may be. Acknowledging that you’re going through change - and experiencing its side effects - helps set the stage for you to be able to get to the other side as smoothly as possible.

SOMETHING WE LOVE:

A picture is worth 1000 words. This is a powerful visual that highlights the cycle of feelings people experience when navigating change. Are you going through a change right now? If so, where do you fall on the change curve?

YOU SHOULD TRY THIS:

Build a plan.

You‘ve heard the phrase: if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. This is especially true when things are changing around you, which is why we always recommend proactively building a plan for how you’d handle big change or navigate a transition.

Today, think about something that might happen in the future, and put together a light weight plan on how you'd get through it. Keep it simple; just a few bullet points are needed here. By proactively building a plan before a big change happens, you're building solutions and strategies while you're not in fight or flight mode.
