If you're like us, the notion of developing a Personal Brand can quickly bring on the ick. The idea of curating an image of yourself and pushing it out to the world can feel awkward at best, and inauthentic at worst. That's why it's so important to build a personal brand that feels authentic to you.
Humans are judgmental creatures, and we're always looking to understand what's going on around us. When someone gives us information, data points, and context clues as to why they are the way they are, we are lead to certain to conclusions about that individual. This gives you the power to shape your personal brand.
The reverse is also true: when people are not given any background or insight into why someone is the way they are, we (for better or for worse) will jump to conclusions about them. This gives others the power to shape your personal brand.
What does this all mean? You've got a personal brand. You can design it yourself, or others will do it for you.
This week, we encourage you to revisit an episode of the Career Sandwich Podcast. In this episode, Dennis and Shelby discuss why being the hero of your own story is a critical piece of building a personal brand that feels authentic to you.
