You’ve probably said “Thank you for your time” more than once in your life. You’ve also probably been thanked by someone else for your time. But, you’ve probably never thought about why it’s a super unhelpful thing to say.
Thanking someone for their time after an interview is always well intended, but it’s generic and, dare we say.. impersonal? Next time you’re wrapping up an interview, try something like this instead:
“Thanks for sharing your perspective and experience with me. I really appreciate it.”
Hits different, doesn’t it? That’s because it’s a thank you that’s focused on the impact the person had on you, not just the fact that they showed up. And that’s sure to end the time on a high note!
